Cosmap introduces IRTF, the new robotic cell with integrated tool designed for the automatic marbling (flower embossing) of stainless steel surfaces. This application was developer in response to a customer’s need to effectively and safely automate the process of deburring stainless steel surfaces, a long and repetitive operation that had previously been carried out manually by an operator.
Thanks to the use a pad integrated with a pneumatic compensation system for constant adaptation to the geometry of the piece, IRTF is able to finish flat, conical or curved surfaces in a precise and repeatable manner. The system works in a parameterized way, ensuring consistent quality standards than can be customized according to specific production requirements.
One of the machine’s strengths is its dynamic working pressure management, which allows for dynamic and controlled compensation on the workpiece secured to the workstation with a spindle for positioning. This ensures stability and uniform finish on surfaces, as well as longer tool life.
The heart of technology is a marbling (“flower embossing”) system applied to the robot’s wrist, operated by a fixed-stroke pneumatic cylinder, which allows the tool to be attached and compensates for differences in the position of the sheer metal along the surface. The pad rotation is provided by a spindle unit driven by an asynchronous motor and controlled by an inverter, to ensure constant speed and high performance.
